ENGLISH SKILL -1

                                                                                           
                                                  Usage of    this/that 
'This' is used to refer people and things, which are nearer.' That' is used to refer things and people, that  are farther away. (Physically as well as in our thoughts)

This is a pen                      
That is a book   



NOTE:
'is' and 'a' are used with singular things or people, 'a' refers to one'are' is used with plural things or people. 

The plural of 'this' is 'these' and 'that' is 'those'.  'a' is not used with plural things  or people or animals.
1.These are pens  
2.Those are books.

This is a book (Simple statement)
This is not a book/This isn't a book (Negative statement)
Is this a book? ('yes/no' question)
Is this not a book?/ Isn't this a book? ('yes/no' negative question)
What  is this? ('wh' question)
